03:30 PM: The Nifty ended at 5,127.30, up 23.45 points or 0.46 percent. It touched a high of 5,141.70 and a low of 5,100.70 in trade today.

The Sensex closed at 16,895.47, up 35.67 points or 0.21 percent. It touched a high of 16,962.49 and a low of 16,844.10 in trade today.

03:25 PM: Hindalco Industries (-2.16%), Coal India (-1.90%), HDFC Bank (-1.47%), Maruti Suzuki (-1.46%) and Bharti Airtel (-1.35%) were among the major Sensex losers.

03:20 PM: Dr Reddy's Laboratories (2.99%), Tata Motors (2.45%), Jindal Steel (2.01%), BHEL (1.96%) and Hero MotoCorp (1.78%) were among the index gainers.

03:15 PM: Among the sectoral indices, the BSE Realty Index was down 0.55 percent, the BSE IT Index declined 0.28 percent and the BSE FMCG Index slipped 0.19 percent. The BSE Healthcare Index gained 1 percent and the BSE Power Index moved 0.89 percent higher.

03:00 PM: The Sensex pared intraday gains and slipped in the red due to lack of supportive cues from European peers. Gains in healthcare, power and capital goods sectors were offset by losses in realty, technology and FMCG sectors.

02:45 PM: Shares of Sintex Industries surged higher as sentiment turned bullish on the counter after Life Insurance Corporation of India acquired 10 lakh shares for Rs 5.80 crore through an open market transaction.

02:15 PM: Shares in airlines surged on TV reports the civil aviation ministry will meet with finance ministry counterparts to discuss lowering aviation turbine fuel taxes, raising hopes of an announcement, traders said.

02:00 PM: Hexaware Technologies was trading 3% up at Rs 122.60 on NSE mid-session Wednesday as traders aggressively bought the shares on optimism over the company's revenue growth.

Chartists believed the stock could touch Rs 130 intraday. The stock touched a high of Rs 123 in the day's session, after opening at Rs 119 marginally above its Tuesday close.

01:30 PM: Shares of Tata Coffee have been moving higher on rumours of a reverse merger with Tata Global, ET Now reported. The stock was at Rs 934.60, up 3.16 per cent, on the BSE. It has touched a high of Rs 942.95 and a low of Rs 908.90 in trade today.

01:15 PM: BSE Sensex was down 7 points led by losses in ITC, HDFC Bank and TCS

01:00 PM: ACC was up 0.2 percent, Ambuja Cements declined 1.5 percent, India Cements slipped 0.9 percent, Madra Cement was 2.7 percent lower and Ultratech Cement fell 2.1 percent.

12:45 PM: Citi has downgraded DLF to 'neutral' from 'buy', and cut the price target to Rs 218 from Rs 266.

11:40 PM: Fitch Ratings on Wednesday revised the outlook of Indian Financial institutions to negative from stable. The outlook for State Bank of India (SBI), Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, IDBI Bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB), Axis Bank among others has been reduced to negative.

11:20 AM: Ambuja Cements (2.28 percent), Bharti Airtel (0.89 percent), Coal India (0.70 percent), Maruti Suzuki (0.69 percent) and Jaiprakash Associates (0.64 percent) are among the decliners.

11:10 AM: Nifty gainers include Jindal Steel (3.30 percent), Tata Motors (1.97 percent), Sesa Goa (1.95 percent), Hero MotoCorp (1.83 percent) and HCL Tech (1.79 percent).

09:40 AM: Shares of cement majors like Ambuja Cements, ACC and Ultratech Cements were under pressure ahead the Competition Commission of India's final report on cartelization allegations. According to reports, the watchdog came down heavily on the companies and may slap a fine of about Rs 3,000 crore, ruling them guilty of forming a cartel and fixing prices.

09:30 AM: Among the sectoral indices, the BSE Metal Index was up 0.91 percent, the BSE Capital Goods Index gained 0.82 percent and the BSE Auto Index moved up 0.63 percent. The BSE Realty Index was down 0.13 percent.

09:16 AM: The Sensex opened in the positive territory in line with other Asian peers which gained on expectations that the Federal Reserve may provide stimulus to support the US economy.

08:55 AM: Overnight, US stocks rose on hopes that the Federal Reserve will agree to extend stimulus measures to support growth in world's largest economy.

08:50 AM: The Dow Jones industrial average gained 95.51 points, or 0.75 percent, to 12,837.33 at the close. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index advanced 13.20 points, or 0.98 percent, to 1,357.98. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 34.43 points, or 1.19 percent, to close at 2,929.76.
